Has fear ever stopped you from leaving your bed because you didn’t want to face the bills that you couldn’t pay; the employer that did everything in their power to make your life a living hell; or a significant other that is mentally/physically abusive towards you? To be totally transparent, I’ve experienced each of the scenarios noted at one time or another in my life. As you’re fully aware, fear can be crippling, which could lead to the end result of “stagnation”. The definition of stagnation is, “the lack of activity, growth, or development”. You can’t afford to be in that state of mind!
The bible states, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”, (Isaiah 41:10). How empowering to know that God is equipping us to push through the fear? Think about it—God is always with us and He’s strengthening and upholding us with His righteous right hand. Another scripture reads, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). My question to you is, if God did not give us a spirit of fear, then where is this spirit coming from? Let me enlighten you—the originator of fear is the devil. I need you to understand that the devil is here to kill, steal and destroy God’s plans for our lives. But he, the devil, cannot win unless you hand over your God given divine power to him—that should never be an option! Remember, God has given you a sound mind.
I’ve experienced fear on many occasions, but guess what? I rehearse scriptures over and over in my head such as:
- “'For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, for I myself will help you,' declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel” (Isaiah 41:13-14).
- “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” ( Deuteronomy 31:6).
You’re God’s righteousness and in order to receive everything that He has in store for you—you have to have a made up mind, to “Push Through” the fear! You can do it because of God’s spirit that resides in you!
